GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF PUNJAB
Punjab is situated in India\’s northern region. It is one of the twenty-eight states of India. It is the nineteen largest State by land and the sixteenth most populous states in India. It shares borders with Himachal Pradesh to the northeast, Haryana and Rajasthan to the south, union territory of Chandigarh to the east and the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir to the north. It also shares an international border with Pakistan to the west.
Punjαb is a state of five rivers. The Sutlej, Ravi and Beas rivers flow through the Indian Punjαb and two rivers, Chenab and Jhelum, flow through the Pakistan Punjαb. These five rivers are tributaries of the Indus River.
Punjabi is the most widely spoken language in the state and also the official language of the state. Chandigarh is the capital of the state. It is also the capital of Haryana. The Indian Punjαb is called the \”Granary of India\”.
The fertilizer consumption in Punjab is the highest in India. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is one of the major tourist destinations of Punjαb.
At present, Amarinder Singh is the Chief Minister of the state.
